System Engineer

YOUR ROLE, YOUR IMPACT.
As a hands-on System Engineer, with a strong focus on Electrical & Automation Engineering, you’ll help design, integrate, test, and optimize the systems that make complex machines work in the field.You’ll connect the dots across electrical, automation, software, hydraulics, and mechanical systems, turning individual components and subsystems into one reliable, functional machine.

Key responsibilities:

• Concept & Solution Engineering: Work directly with customers to understand their needs and challenges, challenge requirements where needed, and (co-)create technical solutions and system architectures that best addresses the problem.
• Electrical Engineering: Design and integrate electrical architectures, components, wiring, sensors, actuators, and communication systems for off-highway vehicles and other machines.
• Software, Automation & Controls: Program machine functions and control logic using PLCs, ECUs, and embedded systems. Integrate and commission control systems.
• System Engineering: Connect electrical, software, hydraulic, and mechanical systems into a coherent and reliable machine architecture. Turn designs and ideas into functioning systems.
• Testing & Commissioning: Build, integrate, commission, test, debug, and fine-tune prototypes and machines, turning concepts into reliable real-world solutions.
• Customer Support, Training & Continuous Improvement: Support customers in the field or remotely, troubleshoot technical issues, provide hands-on training, and use customer and field feedback to continuously improve machine performance and reliability.

You’re a hands-on Electrical Automation Engineer who enjoys understanding how things work, creating new solutions, and finding ways to make systems work even better. You don’t stop at the drawing board. You enjoy building, programming, testing, debugging, and improving real machines and you’re curious about what happens when your engineering meets the real world. You like digging into complex problems and don’t stop until you’ve turned your understanding into a practical and efficient solution, especially when there’s no obvious answer or manual to follow.

You approach challenges from a systems perspective, combining analytical thinking, creativity, and practical problem-solving. You’re curious, eager to learn, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Most importantly, you thrive in a fast-paced and ambitious environment where you can tackle complex technical challenges and see your solutions work reliably in the field.

• A master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Electromechanics, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience in a similar engineering role, working with electrical systems, automation, controls, or embedded systems.
• A strong interest in (off-highway vehicles), robotics, or intelligent machines.
• Knowledge of PLC programming, preferably with CODESYS (Structured Text).
• Knowledge of CAN-bus and/or other communication systems.
• Strong knowledge of Eplan and electrical design.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English.
• Driver’s license B and a willingness to travel occasionally, both in Belgium and abroad.
